Strung Up 02:41
You look pretty good in the moonlight Shadows run across your face I still see you like you don't see me I'm drunk but you're just a little tipsy You've been on my mind for more than tonight Longer than I'd care to admit I've been holding my tongue cuz you've been with someone But there's a spark no doubt about it Road signs flicker like fireflies Can't help but notice the look in your eyes Know that it's wrong to steal you away But honey I wish you would stay Snow's falling hard out the window Getting pretty late to be on the road We could spend the night or just go for a ride And find some dirt for our wheels to hold I'm riding shotty in your daddy's Camry We come to your house and you ease on the brakes I could get out or you could come in But one of us here is gonna make a mistake Road signs flicker like fireflies Can't help but notice the look in your eyes Know that it's wrong to steal you away But girl I wish you would stay You got me strung up

Crossfire 02:44
Rain falls down on this dirt floor town As I'm spitting into the wind Another door closes and and another door closes And I'm left wonderin' Am I a man or just a cog in the machine What do think they'll do when I can't pay rent next week Lookin' at me in the same old ways Pay my debts in cents on a broken wage Leaving me caught in a crossfire Everywhere I go Is that what you wanted I want to know Can you hear the sound I can hear the silence when you don't call You still don't call And I'm so sick of trying Trying to be something that I'm not Trying to earn just a little more than I got Ten-story walk up to a one room life You don't know me but you know what I'm like Leaving me caught in a crossfire Everywhere I go Is that what you wanted I want to know If you're sayin' I'm wrong I'll sing along Leaving me caught in a crossfire Everywhere I go Is that what you wanted I want to know

Warpaint 02:56
Every single morning she's up before the dawn Smokes a cigarette and gets her warpaint on Enemy's waiting weapon drawn She gets ready to fight and puts her warpaint on She's out the front door while the light's still stalkin the skyline Bus stop's so cold when it ain't felt the touch of the sunshine She waits there 20 long minutes Frozen fingers stretchin to their limit Until that cramped bus comes and takes her all the way to work Boss' got bad news her hours are gettin cut back But he ain't ever raised a child on half a paycheck So this month say goodbye to heating Cuz her baby's mouth'll need feeding And that one room apartment ain't gonna pay for itself Still every day's a battle but we stay strong Put two boots down and get our warpaint on Enemy's waiting weapon drawn But we get ready to fight and put our warpaint on Baby's got a daddy but daddy ain't been much of a father She still makes that call but most times just wonders why she bothers He can talk all he wants about parole But them prison bars are thicker than he knows And that revolving door'll put him right back in again Still every day's a battle but we stay strong Put two boots down and get our warpaint on Enemy's waiting weapon drawn But we get ready to fight and put our warpaint on Oh that battle's long But it's a war that can be won Power in your lungs To shout it out Two boots down Stand your ground Weapon drawn Warpaint on

There's a girl that I meet most nights And early mornings by the boxcar depot Says she's out there for the fresh air Promise of new exciting people But she can't complain though she hardly tries Looks past the nature of the train she rides I gave up tryin' for a happy ending She can be replaced and the work is demanding Shady all-night bar and grill with convertible parked out front You can order what you will but they'll deliver what you want Caroline's not out tonight Sometime's she's gone for a week or more She'll be back when she's feelin' alright Just a little paler than before Up all night I see the light Though my window as they pull away There she stands alone in the night She'll be gone before the light of day Shady all-night bar and grill with convertible parked out front You can order what you will but they'll deliver what you want We smoke cigarettes and talk about sex And think about the things we'd rather forget Later on I'll return to my station Pouring Drinks and gettin' tips for conversation Shady all-night bar and grill with convertible parked out front You can order what you will but they'll deliver what you want

One of these days the rough spots on riverside Are gonna be the death of you Over there they're so hard where the corners get sharp And the alleys are to dark to pass through It's a world full of phonecalls with coded conversations That's part of the life that you lead Where supply meets demand and the money changes hands For a product that the best of us need Show me what you're holdin' All I need is one taste I'll be your satisfied customer In your part time paper chase One of these days maybe you'll answer your phone When I call you on a saturday night I'll spend all my cash watch you burn it into to ash But I'll leave with my head feelin' right Instead I'm dry as the bones that cast your fortunes And ward off the demons from you Wonderin' when I shall taste that sweet caress Of your medicine that always gets me through Show me what you're holdin' All I need is one taste I'll be your satisfied customer In your part time paper chase Cut out your market Weigh it out do the math and pick your targets Show me what you're holdin' All I need is one taste I'll be a satisfied customer In your part time paper chase Medicine Woman Work some magic on me I'll be your satisfied customer Until the law takes us off of the streets

about

The band decided to name this album Part Time in honor of all of all the long hours we put into the labor of love that was making this record. Rock'n'roll is like a series of fun field trips from the reality of a day job for us. We're in debt to so many people for helping us achieve this, and the following names deserve as much credit for this as us:

Our Families, David McKenzie, Max Wirt, Neil Weir, Schoen Oslund, Ali Jaafar, Zoe Prinds-Flash, Jake Schemm, Kermit, Andrew Volna, Dan Forke, Eli Flasher, Sonia Grover, and Free Energy

about

Blue Ruin Minneapolis, Minnesota

In early 2011, four kids from South Minneapolis formed a band. Drawing equal influence from their time in the trenches of the Twin Cities Punk scene and the dusty grooves of their favorite Soul and R&B records, Blue Ruin created a raw, guitar driven sound with an emphasis on the groove. ... more
